Yasuaki Shimizu & Saxophonettes: Attoiuma
26 September at Super Deluxe
Suddenly this September . . . a fleeting eternity.
Ever the bold musical matchmaker, Yasuaki Shimizu has married Heptatonic and Pentatonic Scales out in the great minimalist desert. Not long after a most harmonious honeymoon, however, the Pentatonic bride began to dominate the relationship. Five reed masters now gather at Lady Pentatonic's request to create a unique tonal space to accompany her sensually swaying dance. As the saxy sounds slowly spiral into the postnuptial night, let the reed masters challenge your multidimensional sensibilities. Come experience the consummation of this eternal fleeting moment.

Who's Camus Anyway? (Camus Nante Shiranai)
Following its screenings at the Director's Fortnight of the Cannes film festival, where it received a 4-minute standing ovation, and the New York Film Festival, where it was the first Japanese film in four years to screen in the main program, Mitsuo Yanagimachi's youth-group drama Who's Camus Anyway? opened the Japanese Eyes segment of the Tokyo International Film Festival and went on to receive the Best Picture Award. Yasuaki Shimizu's soundtrack for the film makes brilliant use of his hi-tech command for a low-tech attack. The tension-filled finale, in particular, is a must-see/must-hear!
